Boxer Dog Training Introduction

chels1
Hi there, I'm Weebles...er...Chelsea, and I will guide you through boxer dog training. Dad calls me Weebles, so that's my nickname. Boxer dog training can be a rewarding task for both Mom, Dad and the pup. A pup that knows what the rules are and understands what you want is a happy pup and is a joy to be around. On the other hand an untrained pup can be, at best, an annoyance, at worse, a danger.

Before we get to boxer dog training a little background on me......

Mom and Dad got me when I was 14 weeks old, two weeks after they had gotten Obie. I was the shy type because I had been abused as a baby. Buffy didn’t help me much, because she was jealous of me, but I sure loved my new home though. Daddy taught me that Buffy was the Alpha female and I should respect that, but it took all my self-control to remember it. Being white has its advantages and disadvantages. The advantages are everybody thinks I’m cute and you can find me in the dark. The disadvantages are I can sunburn and get cold easy, but Mom and Dad take good care of me, so that I don’t bite off more than I can chew.

I am fiercely protective of my family, don’t like strangers, like “Dopey Obie” does, just ask the delivery man! I sure made his day, I did, and scared the poop out of Mom at the same time. I enjoy a good chew bone, and while doing so, broke off one of my canine teeth. Mom and Dad had to take me to the Vet and have it removed. But I still love a good chew bone! Look at my picture....who says dogs can't grin!!

Boxer dog training takes patience and is best done with love and rewards, not with yelling and hitting. You see, all we really want to do is please you and once we understand what you want, we will do our best to do it! We are smart so we will learn fast, but the key to training is persistence and repetition, don't give up on us. Most of us only reach the mentality of an 18 month old to 2 year old human, so understand you will have to go over the same thing many times, but we'll learn.

We are going to cover these topics and be aware some of the idea's and techniques may be new and not in any book, but have been learned by Mom and Dad through 20 years of living with boxer babies and learning what works.

We will start our Boxer Dog Training with handling dominance and aggression in a multi-dog family. If this is not taken care of early on it can become a dangerous situation for you and your boxer.

We are also going to cover housebreaking your boxer. This is not difficult, but it does take patience and an understanding of the instincts of your boxer.

Boxer dog barking is also covered. There are many reasons your boxer may be barking excessively. You can find out what they are in this area of the site.

Boxer dog digging is an annoyance and can destroy your yard. Go to this section to learn why your boxer digs and tips on how to stop it.

Boxer dog chewing is something all boxer families must deal with, but you can learn that is does not have to be destructive. Find out how in the area of the site.

Boxer dog commands all boxers should know are covered as well. Learn what to teach your boxer so you both enjoy one another to the fullest.
