Boxer Dog Chewing
You can't stop boxer dog chewing, but you can train your boxer on what he can and can't chew on. Remember we need to chew as puppies and young adults, so provide us chew bones or toys we can chew on. Let us know these are our toys and it is OK for us to chew on these items. If you catch us chewing on something we should not, tell us no and give us the item we can chew on. When we start to chew on the item you gave us, give us lots of praise and pets. Do not give your pup an old shoe or sock, because when you do, you are telling your boxer it is OK to chew on all shoes and socks. We don't know that is your dress shoes from the shoes you gave us to chew on. Try not to leave your puppy alone, unless he is in a crate or some other area that he can't hurt or hurt himself. Puppies need to chew, if you do not give us something to chew on, we will find whatever is handy! Realize a puppy will continue to chew for a year or more. I chewed my bones up until I passed away, where as Obie didn't chew much after he was grown up. We did not tear up the furniture as we had plenty of toys and boneys to chew on. Boxer dog chewing is part of owning a boxer. If trained properly and taught with love and affection, it doesn't have to be a destructive time. Remember with all training patience and repetition is the key.
