Boxer Dog stories about BuffyBuffy
Sue My New Life Hi, I'm Buff, short for Buffy Sue. (Mom gave us all middle names). Mom and Dad don't know much of my early background because they found me tied to a doghouse and the lady said "Kids were throwing tomatoes and rocks" at me. I know I was scared and ready to leave. Mom saw the ad for me in the paper, as they had decided to get Tigger some company, so they came to see me. There were several other dogs, six, I think, in very small pens out in the open with no shelter. Two of the dog were boxers. The lady had decided she did not want me any longer, as I did not have any papers and could not provide her with pups that could be registered. I think I weighted about 30 lbs. and I was around seven months old. Mom took one look and me and told Dad to pay the lady. I was so happy to leave, that I went over to Mom and Dad's car and jumped right in and curled up in the back I did not know where I was going, and I was scared, but I figured it had to be better than where I was. We arrived at my wonderful, big new home, complete with my own doggie door. We all went in and that is when I saw the man of my dreams, Tigger. He was so handsome and gentle, a little older than me, but who cared. I think he fell in love with me too, as we sniffed and kissed like old friends. Boy was I a happy girl, I had gone from nothing to a new house, a mate, plenty of food, a bed, hugs and kisses, and plenty of ice water. I grinned 24/7! Not long after I had arrived in my new home, Mom took me to the vet. I got all my shots and had me spayed and learned that I had Hip Dysplasia. Mom and Dad were sad I had a problem with my hips. They were pretty bad, but Mom and Dad said "it was the only thing bad about me" and we would fight it together and we did. I did fine in my younger years and could keep up with the best of them. When I was around 5 or 6 I began to slow down a lot. But Mom gave me an old loveseat she had to lay on and I knew it was mine and used it a lot. I could climb up there just fine. Life is Grand Mom was working about 3 days a week while I was growing up, so Tigger and I kept each other company. We had free run of the house and never got into anything except the trash, which Dad made a big deal out of. (which it wasn't) We were just having fun, but we learned not to do it anymore and we were "good pups" from then on. I loved to run the the back yard with my Dad. You could see the fun all over my face those times when we played. I was a little impish sometimes. I loved to play " Hide and Peek", in fact Dad has a photo of the "peek" in the Logo of this site. Mom and Dad took us the mountains, on walks and even to the lake. They found a cabin in the Smoky Mountains that allows pups and even found some folks that rent Pontoon boats that allow pups as well. We were always good and never barked at people or at night unless there was a good reason.
